Throughout History, The Bible, and specific scripture passages have been used to give encouragement to men and women of God. These verses of encouragement have motivated people to change their lives, their lifestyles, their families, and even their countries. As I did my research for this post, I found myself amazed at how God can use a simple bible verse to encourage people to rise up above their circumstances and become mighty men and women of valor. It is my prayer that as you read these Bible verses of encouragement, you too will find the strength and inspiration to rise up above the circumstances in your life and be the next man or woman of God who changes their world. .

I am going to lay out for you the Bible verses that encouraged the Apostles, The Reformers, American Evangelicals, and the most influential men and women of God in the 20th century. Encouraging scripture passages that were written by the Apostles.
The Apostles were the ones that sat at the feet of Jesus. Yet they still needed encouragement and also gave encouragement. I think you will find great strength and hope in these scripture quotes on encouragement.
Bible verses of encouragement and gave strength to the Apostle Paul.
Paul, who was first named Saul, was a latecomer to the early church. He was not converted until God literally had to knock him off His donkey and confront him personally. However after that encounter with God, he became one of the most prolific writers of the early church. I find great strength and encouragement reading some of Paul’s verses that encouraged Him and others.
12 When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 7:4
4 I have the highest confidence in you, and I take great pride in you. You have greatly encouraged me and made me happy despite all our troubles.
2 Corinthians 13:11
Paul’s Final Greetings
11 Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Have the Attitude of Christ
1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.
1 Thessalonians 4:17-18
17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words
25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Peter’s Final Greetings

Living as Children of God
28 And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
Finally the best Bible verses of encouragement from Jesus Himself!
2 Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.”
22 Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
These Bible verses of encouragement have changed our world!
These verses and many Bible quotes like them have impacted our world in many diverse ways. It was verses like these that motivated the Apostles to touch the known world with the gospel of Jesus and introduce them to Jesus in a personal way. It was verses like these that motivated the great reformers like Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox and Charles Wesley to face trials and tribulations and even death. It was verses like these that motivated John Edwards, D.L. Moody, Charles Finney, Billy Sunday, to reach out to the hurting, the helpless, the drunks and the poor, to start Sunday school classes, ride horses thousands of miles to preach in barns, stables, and storefronts. These same Bible verses that encourage, motivated the likes of Charles Seymour, A.B. Simpson, Aimee Semple McPherson, A.A. Allen, and Billy Graham to reach out to people with the good news of a personal relationship with Jesus and the power, strength and encouragement that is found only in that relationship.
I hope that as you read these Bible verses of encouragement that you also were strengthened and encouraged and that you are lifting your eyes up to heaven and saying as the saints of old did, “Here am I Lord, send me.”
