Combat Stress in Your Homeschool
Ironically, my careful preparation to schedule our school work so that not one part of the year would flip-flop us face down failed.
Even planning ahead didn’t seem to negate the “start of the school year activities” stress.
Stress. Avoiding it in your homeschool…
In our homeschool that means schooling year around. We do this in order to spread out the work, ease up on studies when extra curriculars become demanding and have the ability to take off for Sabbath Weeks (1 week of “rest” every 6-8 weeks).
My 9th grader started high school homeschool at the begining of June. We worked the kinks out of his schedule for the next three weeks before adding our other students into the mix.
All of this to minimize the start of the school year “crunch”.
Last week was our Sabbath week and the start of those extra curricular activities. At the begining of the week I thought we’d have a peaceful stress FREE week.
We were seriously thrown off-kilter and it took us a while to regain our composure.
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. Deut 31:8
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Gal 6:9
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matt 11:28
When your homeschooling goes haywire and stress begins to build, your best bet for sanity is to stop, drop and meditate on God’s Word!
