My Favorite Bible Verses For Strength In Hard Times

An inspirational quote from the PsalmsMy Favorite Inspirational Bible Verses About Strength in Hard Times

I have been called the eternal optimist. No matter what situation I find myself in, I am a cup running over type of person. There is a reason for that optimism. I have learned to trust in the Lord during hard times. I have learned to read Bible verses about strength in hard times. So here is a list of my favorite Bible verses about strength in hard times for you to start reading and memorizing so when you are faced with difficult situations your cup can still run over as well.

Listen to this video about receiving strength from God while reading these verses.

The Lord is my strength Bible verses

Psalm 28:7

7 The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Isaiah 12:2

2 See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”

Bible Verses to help you not be afraid

Genesis 15:1

The Lord’s Covenant Promise to Abram

1 Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”

Joshua 1:9

9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 10:8

8 “Do not be afraid of them,” the Lord said to Joshua, “for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.”

Psalm 23:4

4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

Psalm 91:4-6

4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.

6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

Strength in weakness Bible verses

2 Corinthians 12:10

10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Hebrews 11:33-35

33 By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. 35 Women received their loved ones back again from death. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection.

Joel 3:10

10 Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’”

Finally the Bible verse that gives me strength because of His unfailing love towards me

Romans 8:31-39

Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I hope you have enjoyed these Bible verses about strength in hard times. We truly do face uncertain times ahead and because of that and because I want this website to be a place where Christians come when they want to find authentic Christianity and not religion that I address issues like needing Bible verses about strength in hard times. We all need to get real, take off our masks of pseudo-spirituality, and once again just get on our knees before our maker and seek Him for our needs. He has made everything we possibly need available in Jesus Christ.
