Here is my list of inspirational quotes for difficult times.
”Exodus 18:19 Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to God.” – Jethro (the father in law of Moses)
Jethro was encouraging Moses because he was weary and worn out trying to personally fix everyones problem. It was not Moses’s job to fix those problems. He was not God. Jethro told him to take their difficulties, their problems, their trials to God. Today we do not need a man to go to God for us. We have someone with a direct connection to God. Jesus Christ is that person who takes our trials and tribulations to God. We just talk to Him. Every person who has established a personal relationship with Jesus, only has to take their burdens to Him. He will take care of the rest.
“2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” The Apostle Paul
The Apostle Paul had many inspirational quotes for difficult times was sharing a very important principle about overcoming hardship in this one. He was saying that when we cannot do something, that is when God steps in and does something in miraculous ways. He had found that the less he relied on his own ability and strength, the more God is allowed to come in with His abilities and strength.
“1 Peter 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” The Apostle Peter
The Apostle Peter gives us one definition of why we go through difficult times in this quote. That there is actually a purpose to difficulties. He tells us that they test our faith. Faith is like a muscle. If you do not exercise it, it becomes atrophied. Difficult times force us to work that faith muscle. Tough times reveal if we have genuine faith, or just good feelings. It displays if we trust in riches and our own strength, or if we truly trust in God.
“John 14:1 [ Jesus Comforts His Disciples ] “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me.” – Jesus Christ
Jesus is comforting the disciples in this inspirational quote for difficult times because He had just told them that they were about to go through hard times. That life was going to get difficult for them. He told them where to place their trust. That to trust Him. I have found over all the years that I have known Jesus personally, that He has never let me down. It is more secure to trust in Jesus, than your job, your house, or the bank. He never fails.
“Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – The Apostle Paul
The Apostle Paul gives us a promise in another of his many inspirational quotes for difficult times that we can stand on. That all things, including difficult times, hardships, or tragedy will work for the good of those that love God. You may not see it now, and I am sure it doesn’t feel like it, but even the very thing you are going through, will work out for good, with only one caveat. You must love God.
“Psalm 107 17 Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. 19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. 22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.” – King David
King David when He wrote the entire Psalm 107, wrote it with difficult times and the tragedies people face in mind. Notice He says that when they cried to the Lord in their trouble, He saved them from their distress. Now that is good advice if you ask me! If you will start to be honest with God, including how you feel, God will step in to change the situation.
“Job 42:12 The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch. 15 Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.” – The Book of Job
This is one of my favorite inspirational quotes for difficult times from the last part of the book of Job. We all know who Job is. He is the guy who lost everything. He lost money, health, friends, and family. He lost it all! If you ask me, that qualifies as difficult times in a person’s life. However what was the final outcome? His later years were more blessed than his earlier years. That is a promise you can hold on to as well. Why? Because God is no respecter of persons. If He did it for Job, He will do it for you.
“Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – The Apostle Paul
The Apostle Paul, being quoted here, was encouraging the church in Rome who was suffering persecution and even losing their lives because of their faith. He was telling them that they could overcome. That nothing that they would go through would separate them from the love of God. He is telling them that they are more than conquerors, that whatever a person is facing, whatever difficult times, it was not going to defeat them.
“John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – Jesus Christ
Using Inspirational Quotes for Difficult Times
My dear friend, The ultimate way to overcome difficult times is to have the peace that is only found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You need to have God on the inside of you. You cannot lift yourself up by your own bootstraps. Have you ever tried that? It is quite comical! You need someone who is bigger than you on your side. Jesus promised He would give us peace in the midst of the storm. You have searched for these inspirational quotes for difficult times because you sense your need for encouragement. You know that your cup is becoming empty. You need Jesus to fill your cup to overflowing again.
If you have never thought about, or ever saw the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I have a page on this blog that explains very simply without getting religious, how you can do so. I would encourage you to visit the Meet Jesus page and see how simple yet profound having a personal relationship with Jesus really is.
If you would like more inspirational quotes for difficult times I have over 70 lists of Bible verses arranged by subject.
I am praying for you even though I do not know your name as of yet.
