It Is Happening – The Legitimization Of Mormonism

There are some things that I seriously do not relish being right about. The legitimization of Mormonism due to the nomination of Mitt Romney is one of them. In a story off of Reuters, it reports that the Mormons are thanking Mitt Romney for making their church get favorable press. Honestly, this is just peachy. (sarcasm intended) Because of the decisions made by some of our spineless wonder leaders in the Evangelical circles like Pat Robertson, Joel Osteen, and the leadership at Liberty University, we now have a bona-fide cult becoming legitimized in the eyes of ignorant Americans. Here are some excerpts from the story.

Mormons Thank Romney For Giving Their Church Legitimacy

Reuters) – Mormon churchgoers on Sunday thanked Mitt Romney for raising the church’s profile in his race for the White House and praised the Republican candidate’s acceptance speech at a nominating convention in Tampa, Florida last week.

J.W. Marriott — the son of the founder of the hotel chain and the current chairman of Marriott International Inc. — spoke to the small congregation, noting that as Romney’s profile has risen, the church has enjoyed increased and more positive media coverage.

“Today we see the church coming out of obscurity, and we see that 90 percent of what has been written and said, including an hour on NBC, an hour an half on CNN, two front-page articles in the Washington Post, many articles in the national news about the church, 90 percent of it has been favorable,” Marriott said. “And that’s a great tribute to Mitt and Ann and their family for living such an exemplary life,” said Marriott.

The church has an estimated 7 million members in the United States and it is based on the belief that the religion’s founder, Joseph Smith, found golden tablets in 1827 in upstate New York left behind by ancient Israelites.

It has spent decades trying to counter criticism that it is a cult and a threat to Christianity.

“Never in my life did I think I would ever see as I’m watching the RNC, I would never see a Catholic get up and say that a Mormon is just as good as any Catholic,” one of the churchgoers in Wolfeboro said in a reference to Romney’s running mate, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan, who is a Roman Catholic.

Can God bless something that He has already cursed?

Galatians 1:8
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

Mormonism preaches another gospel. They call it “another testament of Jesus Christ”. Their use of books other than the Bible that they claim is scripture, is enough to define them as a cult. Tie that with the fact that they believe that man will become God’s which is the first lie ever spoken in the Bible, makes them even worse.

Genesis 3:4-5
New King James Version (NKJV)
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Finally, the Mormon belief that Satan is Jesus evil twin brother makes them anti-Christ. I am not saying they are “The AntiChrist”, but I am saying that they are part of the spirit of anti-Christ. They degrade the diety and divinity of Christ.

So all I can say is “hats off” to all of you that put party politics over the eternal destiny of millions of people. You will reap what you have sown.

Saddened and grieved,

Pastor Duke

One Response to It Is Happening – The Legitimization Of Mormonism

  1. Earl Decker says:

Yes, good for you to point this out Duke. I have warned numerous people about the Mormon church. The Mormons are NOT Christians, regardless of what they say. They follow the teachings of Joseph Smith and exalt his teachings above God. Mormons are a polytheistic religion, Christaisn are a monotheistic religion. I go so far as to say that the teaching that Mormons are a Christians is a damnable heresy. What I mean by that is to become a Mormon and to die without repenting will lead to the eternal destruction of your soul. We must not share the Gospel and give warnings about false religions and cults, we must proclaim the Gospel and warnings of false religions and cults. We must speak out because millions will go into internity deceived and lost if we do not. Thanks again Duke.
