For God So Loved The World – A Valentine’s Message

For God so loved the world is an appropriate blog post to give to you seeing how Valentine’s day will be here in less than a week. I wanted to give all of you dear readers a valentine’s day message from God to all of you. It comes from the book of John chapter 3 and verse 16 which has recently been made famous by Tim Tebow. It says, For God so loved the world! God sent and is still sending a Valentines message to you and this world. He still loves you. If you ask me that is a message that we need to keep on remembering and sharing with this crazy mixed up world.

The “For God So Loved The World” Scripture.

John 3:16

16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God loved the world so much that He gave!

That is the first lesson to be learned in this passage. Love compels you to give! Not only does it compel you to give but it compels you to give sacrificially. God didn’t give His leftovers, or His hand me downs, but He gave the very best that He had. He gave us Jesus! He did this out of a heart of love. That is quite different than the perspective that many people seem to have and honestly,  how many churches portray God. His love for you is unfailing. In John 1:14 it says that Jesus was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. That was the gift that God gave to us.

God so loved us that He made a way to have eternal life.

God’s heart and desire for you is that you would have eternal life and not go to hell. Many people say that a loving God could not send people to hell. God does not send people to hell. They choose to go there. When you are standing at a crossroads, and you choose to go a certain direction, do you blame the people who made the road because you went down the wrong one?  The road was built by God. He loved all of us enough to give us the choice on where we will head in life. He has made signposts and even tries to put up roadblocks so that we will choose the right direction but in the end it is out of His love for us that we are given the right to choose. Just as we ourselves as parents try to guide our children in the directions that will be best for them, in the end, out of our love for them, we let them choose. It is their life.

The most famous Bible verse of all. John 3:16You have a choice whether or not to receive God’s valentines message to you.

That choice is belief. Are you going to accept and believe the message God has sent? Will you believe that God loved you enough to send Jesus to show you the way to get to your heavenly Father and have an abundant life? Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3:3 in the same conversation that has the “For God so loved the world” verse, that a man had to be born again. He needs a spiritual rebirth. This happens when you accept the message of love that God sent and ask Jesus to come to live on the inside of you. In the book of Revelations chapter 3 and verse 20 it says that Jesus is standing at the door of your heart knocking. If you will invite Him in then He will come in and you will have dinner together. It is a perfect illustration of the new birth experience. Jesus moves in and brings new life to your spiritual heart. So the choice is this. Will you accept that God loves you and sent His son to you?

That is something to think about!

Blessings

  1. Amen! Thank you for sharing this beautiful reflection on God’s love! So blessed we are that God did – and still does – so love the world. The Cross speaks volumes of the depth, height, width and breadth of His love. We can ask for no sweeter “Valentine” than God’s infinite love divine!
