Matt 8:16-17 – A Scripture for Healing
16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “ He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”
This scripture for healing is actually the fulfillment of what was prophesied by Isaiah in Chapter 53 concerning the coming Messiah. Jesus fulfilled this scripture for healing when He took the 39 stripes upon His back just before being crucified. So what does that mean for you? It means that if you are dealing with a physical infirmity, that you can start asking Jesus to heal you. You will never find in the scriptures a place where a person who came to Jesus asking for healing, was turned away without being healed. Hebrews 13:8 says that “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. If He did not turn someone away without being healed while on earth, then He will not turn you away as well
So how do you receive healing?
- First you need to make sure you have a personal relationship with Jesus. The scripture for healing quoted above, was a scripture that is given to those that know Jesus personally. It was not applied to the world, but to born again believers in Jesus. When you accept Jesus, you not only receive forgiveness of sins, but you also have access to healing.
- You need to become comfortable with the gifts and operation of the Holy Spirit. Jesus after His resurrection sent the Holy Spirit to do His works. If you are not comfortable and understand how the Holy Spirit works, then you will struggle with receiving your healing since it is the Holy Spirit that actually does healing today.
- You need to build your faith by reading and meditating on this scripture for healing and other healing scriptures. Part of the process to receive healing is to build your faith that Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, will actually heal you! I have a list of bible verses about healing that will help you in this process, but to be honest, you need more than just my list. You need either a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, or a Bible Software Program like Glo from Zondervan, to help you find all the scriptures on healing in the bible.
Divine healing is available to you today no matter what you are going through, but it does take learning how to receive that healing. I pray that this article starts you on your path to your miracle. Leave a comment below and let me know that you have started, and especially let everyone know what God does for you concerning healing!
