Bible Verse of the Day – Do Unto Others
This bible verse commonly called “do unto others” or “the golden rule” is a very important verse concerning how to live life. It is very similar to “You shall reap what you sow”. In this bible verse, Jesus is teaching that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. It can be a very hard bible verse to live out. Matt 7:12
12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
How do you “do unto others” in everyday life?
For instance, how do you treat the clerk at the local convenience store? Or the guy behind the counter at a motel you are staying at? How do you treat those people in church that just rub you the wrong way? How do you apply the do unto others principle?
Do you “do unto others” the way you want to be treated?
How is it you want to be treated? Do you want to be thought of in a negative light? Do you want to be treated as someone that doesn’t matter? Do you want your past rubbed in your face? What would happen if people started treating you the way you treat others? Recently I made an object lesson of treating someone how they were treating me and my kids. It got the point across quickly that their behavior was not acceptable.
So let me ask you the question. If a person continually treats you in this type of manner, do you think they are showing they way they want to be treated? Do you think that maybe they are giving what they want to get? I ask myself this question at times because I don’t understand why people bring unhealthy things upon themselves. What about you? What do you think? How do you ”Do unto others“? Leave me a comment below.

This is a good message for this day and age, where people are so self-centered and self-involved. Always looking out for #1, no matter who gets hurt.

I have now heard the revised version…do unto others as THEY would like to be treated…that requires you to understand their desires and then put an effort into meeting them. Very powerful.
Yes it does make you think. Are they showing you the way they want to be treated? I am not saying that we should treat people poorly, but I am saying that we should think about how others would want to be treated.
