Atheists Attack Christianity At Political Conventions

It seems like almost every day now I find a story about how atheists are attacking Christianity on all kinds of fronts. Today I found this story on WND. This story is about the group American Atheists who supposedly encourage people in  “loving yourself and your fellow man rather than a god”, of course except for Christians. This group is planning on putting up inflammatory billboard advertising around the convention centers that are going to house the Republican and Democratic conventions. You can see the advertisement that I am talking about to your right.

Atheists have one goal and it is not about equal rights. It is about the abolition of the Christian religion from the face of the planet. As such, every time that atheists try to do this, it is the responsibility of every Christian to stand up against such a goal. As Martin Luther put it so profoundly,

If I profess with loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not a confessing Christian. - Martin Luther

Here are some excerpts from the story.

American Atheists Attack Christianity With Billboards

by DAVE TOMBERS

A group that pushes the philosophy of “loving yourself and your fellow man rather than a god” is attacking religious believers in a new billboard campaign in the host cities of the upcoming Republican and Democratic conventions. American Atheists announced a billboard campaign against “the foolishness of religion in the political landscape.”

One version of the campaign is scheduled to run in Charlotte, N.C., where the Democratic National Convention will be held Sept. 3-6. The billboard, as seen on American Atheists’ website, attacks Jesus as a “Useless Savior” next to an image of a piece of toast with a purported image of Jesus burned into it. It also claims Christians have a “Sadistic God” and that Christianity has more than “30,000+ versions of truth.” Christians, it says, are part of a “Hate Promoting” group that calls “Hate” “Love.”

The other version of the campaign has fallen short already, as no billboard company in Tampa, Fla., the site of the Republican convention, will accept it.

In a statement, David Silverman, president of American Atheists, said, “The election of our leaders in the United States is one of the most important decisions that we as citizens make. Allowing our judgment to be clouded by sheer silliness is unacceptable. We want to show the people of our country the foolishness of mixing religion with politics.”

American Atheists often sets out to generate interest in its cause through billboards and even aerial banners. In July of 2011, the group attempted to have pilots fly banners over every state declaring “God-less America” instead of “God Bless America” but were stifled by the fact that more than 80 percent of pilots refused to tow the banners. One pilot even commented, “I’m not going to hell flying that sign.”

If this isn’t enough to shake you out of your lethargy and get involved in standing up to what atheists are up to, then there is no hope for you!

Just recently I was chided for speaking plainly. I am in no way wanting to be offensive. At the same time, God has created me to be me, and as such I have always spoken plainly. The church in America is backslidden. They have allowed the ungodly and reprobate to control the political parties, the media, and the public education system. This has produced an environment where this type of thing is acceptable.

If you do not see the handwriting on the wall, then you must be blind. If we do not start standing up, speaking out, and demanding that this intolerance for our faith and practice be stopped, then we will deserve the persecution and ridicule that will come shortly. It is up to you. Will you stop trying to play the non-confrontational live and let live type of game that has failed over the last 60 years? Will you stand up for the Savior that stood up for you?

Leave me a comment and more importantly, Expose this agenda by sharing this article with all the Christians you know.

Blessings!

I appreciate that acceptance. Thank you in return. But, please remember not all organized groups of atheists have the agenda that some of the more publicity driven out there groups such as the Atheist Society do. Like it is their Christian counterparts in the news and out in the public forum, they are speak for a small, very vocal minorioty. There’s where the other main problem lies. That’s where those wrong preconceived views & opinions come from for both sides. And, that’s why I stepped forward on here. How can other side learn to come together with acceptance & peace with our society’s best interests in heart & mind & further & strengthen that society when that society’s own people reject & try to destroy each other? Regular, everyday people need to start that genuine, honest, open dialogue where we can find that middle ground. Yes, I completely understand where you are coming from because those atheist groups get tied up in the rhetoric and focus on the what divides us. They focus too much on the belief, or lack of belief, & not on the humanist side where we both have in common and want the same things for the most part. I just thought I’d reach out & say the vast majority of atheists aren’t represented by those talking heads just like the majority of Christians aren’t by the Christian talking heads.

      Thank you Jessica.

I hope you will notice, that although I do speak for Christian values, I also take to task those on the fringe of Christiandom who are espousing hate.

As an American atheist, the actions of the Atheist Society, especially in this case makes me shake my head with my hand over my face. It’s disrespectful & just plain ridiculous. It’s counterproductive to what most atheists truly want. We don’t want to abolish religion, to destroy it. We want acceptance and peaceful co-existence with our fellow human beings who do happen to believe in a god. We just want the Constitution upheld which grants BOTH sides their beliefs by making the public forum and government secular so BOTH sides can weigh in on the issues and come together as a society to find solutions. BOTH sides have gotten intolerant of one another and allowed wrong preconceived perceptions to cloud their view and opinion of each other to the point where neither are willing to truly listen to the other and see them and experience them for who and what they truly are. The atheist side just sees a tyrannical, excluding to everyone who doesn’t believe in not just any god but a particular god and tries to force everyone into their beliefs dictatorship in Christianity which isn’t necessarily the truth. For some individuals but no where the majority. Christians sees a “hell bound,” no good, how can they possibly have any morals and common decency without a god to make them be that way not because they are a good person and WANT to be not for a reward of eternity in heaven after they DIE but just because we are all human and deserve to be treated with love, respect, kindness and equality in the atheist. That’s not true for all Christians but it is for some. I think your opinion, like that shown by the Atheist Society, is from that lack of truly wanting to communicate, understand, accept and work together to further and strengthen our society. We each have a perspective that we both lack but both need to more fully see the bigger picture.

Thanks for your comment Jessica. Your beliefs and comments I can live with. I cannot live with the comments and actions of the organized atheist groups and their agenda they espouse.
